There is a super market called Mega on the road to La Cruz before arriving in Bucerias; it is the best place to do lots of food shopping.. There is a Chedraui now in Bucerías south of the village. La Comercial will open besides Mega in 2018. There are good fruits and vegetables at the local farmer’s market in La Cruz and Maribel can show you where this is located If you go to this farmer’s market, always ask what is in the walk in refrigerator since most of the fresh food is not on display. Maribel can assist you to locate the food you need.
Fresh fish is sold at La Marina in La Cruz. It is sold for fillets or whole fish. You can buy fish for ceviche as well. I recommend you go early as the restaurants and large villas come and take the best in the morning hours. Usually, there is always shrimp available. The fish that is available in La Cruz is the freshest as the fish were swimming as you slept the night. Maribel or any of the help can give you directions to find the seafood market. Normally we do not have cleaning service on Sunday since it is the day she spends with her family. Her responsibilities are to make the beds, clean bathrooms, kitchen and mop floors every day.
Fresh orange juice, coffee and tea daily are offered to guests of Casa Alegre or if the entire villa has been rented by one guest.
(If you do not wish these services, please inform Maribel or Luis Angel). Our house keeper works hard to make your stay enjoyable; please remember her before your departure with a gratuity if you are pleased.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for customers in Casa Alegre or Complete Villa
Maribel is pleased to cook breakfast daily if you wish for the guests of Casa Alegre or the complete Villa if rented by one guest. You can buy the food you want for her to cook and she will prepare it. Guests give her an extra tip when she cooks for them as that is not part of her normal responsibilities. Food again can be purchased at the Mega, Chedraui and in local markets also or seafood market in La Cruz near La Marina. Maribel or Cipriano can tell you when to go. They can order Sierra or Pargo and Maribel can make an excellent ground ceviche. More about food discussed later.
Sheets and Towels
For stays longer than a week, the sheets are changed every three days. The beds have some feather pillows and Hypo-allergenic Poly-Dacron pillows are available if you require pillows non-allergenic. If you would like a change of sheets at any time please, ask Maribel and she will gladly do it. Clean towels are provided as needed. It is helpful if you hang your towels to dry so they can be used for several days. Towels are provided for the pool, but please do not bring them to the beach.
Water
The water in the Villa is filtered to be used for bathing and kitchen purposes. For drinking water, we recommend buying bottled water at the local market.
Maribel will fill the containers provided in the bath rooms with pure drinking water for your use.
Surveillance
Quinta del Encanto has 24 hour staff on site. Cipriano is the watchman from Monday to Friday and Chilo is the watchman Saturday and Sunday as well as the weeks of Christmas and New Year. Both provide landscaping and pool maintenance daily. Cipriano is in charge of the property and has more knowledge of the care of the Villa. Chilo is considered a watchman but also cleans the pool and pool terrace on Saturdays and Sundays. Both are responsible for turning the exterior lights on and off as well as closing the exterior gates. Luis Angel lives on the property and is always happy to assist our guests with his English ability or knowledge of the area.
House Lights
There are exterior lights at the entrance of Casa Alegre and Casita Amanecer that need to be operated manually. It is the responsibility of the watchman to turn them on and off daily. The switches are located by the entrance doors of each residence. The watchman tries to do this as discreetly as possible. The fountain for the pool works daily during the summer season but not when the pool is being heated. Switches for the fountain and pool light are located by the pool steps.
There is an additional light switch for the pool light located at the top of Casa Alegre’s terrace stairs. The dimmer switch located by the pool steps serves to regulate the intensity of the pool light for ambient lighting at night. Please do not turn off the pool light by lowering the dimmer intensity. All guests can use the dimmer at the pool area and guests of Casa Alegre can use the switch by the iron gate upstairs if the pool light is not too low or off at the dimmer downstairs.
The Casa Alegre terrace light switches are located on the wall at the entrance to the kitchen. One is on the outside of this low wall and another on the side of the kitchen counter. Most of the niches in Casa Alegre have light and the switches are close to them. We have designed the lighting of the Villa to create various environments so feel free to experiment. You are requested to turn off the lights when they are not in use since electricity in Mexico is expensive.
Televisions
TV’s have two remotes; one for Dish cable and one for TV. Turn TV on first and leave on channel 3 or 4. Turn on Dish remote and use that to change channels and volume. There are ways to connect your PC to our TV’s and ask Luis Angel how to do it.

We have mini split AC’s for the Casa Alegre bedrooms and the Casita Amanecer and Casita Chiquita suites. Please do not abuse the use of electricity. When leaving the room or apartment, please turn them off and turn them on again when you return. The remote control is simple. See the temperature they want and notice if it is in ‘cool’ because you can also warm up! To sleep you can put in ‘sleep’ and see how much time you want circulating high. He’s going to go down by himself. You can remove the light with the last “Display” button.
